If you're still running WhatsApp on ChatDaddy by scanning a QR code, you're on borrowed time. Meta has cracked down hard. This guide explains your three options — WhatsApp Business App, Coexistence, and WABA — and shows you the clean path forward.
If you connected WhatsApp Personal or WhatsApp Business App to ChatDaddy by scanning a QR code, you're using an unofficial protocol (Baileys / WhatsApp Web link). Meta does not authorize this for business use, and they're now actively detecting and banning these accounts.
Meta's anti-spam systems flag QR-linked sessions as "unofficial." One spike in volume — or one customer complaint — and your number is gone, taking your contacts and chat history with it.
Your phone has to stay online for the link to work. If your phone disconnects, your battery dies, or WhatsApp Web "times out," messages stop flowing into ChatDaddy and customers are left waiting.
A widely-known limitation of the non-API method. Customers reply, but on your side the message shows as "not available" — leading to lost leads and missed orders.
The QR-scan link drops at unpredictable intervals — sometimes daily, sometimes mid-conversation. You have to re-scan the QR code repeatedly, and any messages that came in while disconnected may never sync back in.
There are three ways to run WhatsApp for business on ChatDaddy. Here's how they actually differ.

Both Coexistence and WABA cost the same on ChatDaddy ($30/mo/channel) and both use Meta's official infrastructure. But WABA gives you more flexibility long-term — here's why we recommend going straight to WABA if you can.
Migration is faster than most clients expect. Here's the typical timeline for moving from QR-scan WhatsApp to WABA on ChatDaddy.
A step-by-step walkthrough for migrating your existing number off the QR-scan method. Watch this first if you're going the Coexistence route.
| Step | What happens | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Confirm your Facebook Business Manager is verified (or start the verification process) | 1–3 days |
| 2 | Disconnect your current QR-scan WhatsApp from ChatDaddy, then prepare your phone number | 15 minutes |
| 3 | In ChatDaddy: Manage Channel → + Add WABA Channel, log in to Facebook, link your WABA | 10 minutes |
| 4 | Receive the OTP on your phone, verify the number, set your display name | 5 minutes |
| 5 | Submit your first message templates for approval (marketing, utility, authentication) | ~24 hours per template |
| 6 | Start sending messages — your existing ChatDaddy automations, broadcasts, and team workflows carry over | Immediately |
Things our customers ask before making the switch.
Your existing ChatDaddy chat history is preserved — that data is stored in ChatDaddy, not on the WhatsApp protocol. What changes is the underlying connection. New incoming messages will arrive through the official API instead of the QR-scan link.
If you choose WABA, the phone number gets migrated to the cloud-hosted API — the WhatsApp Business App on your phone will no longer work for that number. If you choose Coexistence, your phone app continues to work as normal alongside the API.
A contact counts as 1 active chat per calendar month if you exchange at least one message with them (in either direction) during that month. The same contact is only counted once per month, no matter how many messages you exchange. Counter resets on the 1st of every month. Stored or inactive contacts are not counted.
Marketing — promotional content, offers, new product announcements. Utility — order updates, shipping confirmations, account alerts, reminders. Authentication — OTP codes, login verification, 2FA. Service — any reply you send to a customer within 24 hours of them messaging you first. Service is always FREE; the other three are charged per-message by Meta.
No. ChatDaddy charges 0% markup on Meta's published rates — you pay exactly what Meta charges. Most competitors add 10–37% on top of Meta's pricing.
One-time top-ups require an active subscription — they are not a standalone alternative. The base subscription gives you the platform access and team members; credits cover messaging usage on top of that.
No. "Message is not available" is a limitation of the non-API (QR-scan) WhatsApp method, not an account suspension. It happens because the unofficial protocol can't reliably decrypt every message type. This is exactly the kind of issue that disappears when you migrate to Coexistence or WABA.
If your Facebook Business Manager is already verified, the technical setup takes 15–30 minutes. If you need to verify your Business Manager first, allow 1–3 business days for Meta's verification. Template approvals are typically 24 hours each.
Approved templates stay in your account permanently and can be reused for broadcasts and automations. If a template is reported negatively by customers or violates policy, it can be deactivated — at which point you'd need to edit and resubmit. Quality matters: send relevant, requested content.
WABA: the badge is fully supported — apply via your Meta Business Profile. Coexistence: the badge is removed during onboarding and needs to be re-subscribed via Meta Business Profile to restore.
